Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli visited RWC “Prishtina” and the “Ibër-Lepenci” enterprise

Prishtina, 20.12.2024 – The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, and the Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, visited the Regional Water Company “Ibër-Lepenci.”

During the visit to the “Ibër-Lepenci” enterprise, the Prime Minister praised its achievements and highlighted the importance of this enterprise for the country’s development.

Prime Minister Kurti also expressed gratitude and thanked the management and workers for their dedication and work in mitigating and overcoming the damages caused by the terrorist attack of 29 November on the critical infrastructure of the Ibër-Lepenc canal.

Meanwhile, Minister Rizvanolli spoke about the damages that could have been caused as a result of the explosion on the “Ibër-Lepenc” canal. She said that the intended damage was around 2.5 million euros, with consequences in electricity imports, water supply, and heating.

“The intended damage, if the supply interruption had occurred as planned, would have been around 2.5 million euros only in electricity imports, not to mention the paralysis of economic activity, heating for citizens, water supply, and many other services,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the “Ibër-Lepenci” Enterprise, Faruk Mujka, stated that they are carrying out the canal repair project, which is expected to be completed in 2025.

“The damage, the repair, and the renovation will cost us around 400 thousand euros, but this will be done in cooperation with the World Bank, with whom we are also carrying out the Ibër-Lepenc canal repair project, expected to be completed by 30 of June next year,” Mujka said.

RWC Ibër-Lepenci has operated with a profit of 379 thousand euros in 2022, and over 631 thousand euros in 2023, and for 2024, the enterprise is expected to exceed 1.6 million euros in financial profit and over 6 million euros in operating profit. All of this follows seven years of financial losses, which reached up to -4.39 million euros in one year.
