Mitrovica, 16 October 2025 – The VII^th International Multidisciplinary Geoscience Conference on the topic “Critical Minerals and Sustainable Development is being held.

The two-day conference, hosted at the University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica, is organized by the Ministry of Economy (MoE), University “Isa Boletini” in Mitrovica (UIBM) and the Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals (ICMM).

At the opening session, on behalf of the Ministry of Economy, the Director of the Department of Mining, Skender Sallahi, welcomed the participants, thanked the attendees and co-organizers, and highlighted the strategic importance of the mining sector for the country’s overall development and Kosovo’s potential.

He further stressed the necessity of engaging all stakeholders in sustainable development to ensure that the mining sector contributes effectively to national progress.

Conference participants include researchers from Kosovo, neighbouring countries, European Union member states and Türkiye.

On the first day of the Conference, presentations by geoscience experts were delivered, while on the second day, participants will visit various sites across Kosovo related to mining and minerals.
