Prishtina, 21.09.2022 – Organized by the Ministry of Economy in cooperation with the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), the 5th Edition of the Western Balkans Digital Summit “Prishtina 2022” is being held in Prishtina. The Summit is being attended by ICT experts, businesses, government representatives, representatives of the European Commission, Western Balkan countries, the EU and beyond.

The Western Balkans Digital Summit is the biggest regional ICT event, initiated as a process by the Berlin Process.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy of the Republic of Albania, Belindad Balluku, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, Stefan Schnor, participated in the official opening of the Summit.

Online presentations were also made by Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Roberto Viola, Director General of DG CONNECT as well as Majlinda Bregu, the Regional Cooperation Council, who welcomed the opening of this Summit.

Those present at the Summit discussed about the priorities that the states have in the field of digitalization, with special emphasis on digital skills, infrastructure and services, security and digital economy.

During the Digital Summit, four competitions of youth groups from all countries will take place in coding, computer games and other fields.

About 500 participants and more than 60 speakers are attending the Summit. Furthermore, 42 children divided into 120 teams from all countries will attend the Summit.

The two-day Summit will continue tomorrow, on 22 September, where members of the European Parliament, representatives of the WB, representatives of governments from the region and representatives of businesses from different countries will participate.
