Solar Forum – Promotion of Renewable Energy is held
Pristina, 22.07.2022 – The Ministry of Economy, supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has held the second Solar Forum in the country. The forum was attended by the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli; the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti; and the Ambassador of the United States of America to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier.
This forum has brought together all local and international actors in renewable energy, including representatives of institutions, investors, and businesses, as well as representatives of key financial institutions in the country.
During the opening speech of the Forum, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Kosovo, Artane Rizvanolli, presented the work done this year towards the increase of renewable energy sources in the country’s energy mix.
Minister Rizvanolli presented the work done in the draft Energy Strategy 2022-2031, where the building of 1400 MW of wind and solar capacity over the next 10 years is envisaged; she also added that they have worked intensively on the drafting of the Law on Renewable Energy, which is expected to be adopted at the end of 2022.
While, during the second day of the Forum, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, as well as the Ambassador of the United States of America to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, accompanied by Minister Rizvanolli, visited the solar fair, where they met with representatives of local businesses and discussed about the products and services they offer.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo stated that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo is working intensively towards guaranteeing a modern, reliable, and affordable supply for all our citizens, a supply that will promote the environmental protection agenda and at the same time guide our socio-economic transformation as part of the just energy transition.
Whereas US Ambassador to Kosovo – Jeffrey Hovenier emphasized that the US Government will continue to support the energy sector in Kosovo and congratulated the Government on the concrete steps it is taking to facilitate investments in renewable energy sources, respectively solar panels.
