Prishtina, 20 November 2025 – The Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy (MoE), Leonita Shabani Mullarama, participated in the regional conference “Marking the 20^th Anniversary of the Kosovo Gender Equality Agenda – 30 Years after Beijing: The Road Ahead”, organized by the Agency for Gender Equality and the Office of the Prime Minister.

During her address on the first day of the conference, Secretary General Shabani Mullarama congratulated the women’s network for the work carried out over two decades, emphasizing the importance of women’s representation in decision‑making committees in public administration and the necessity of reflecting their work in institutional policies.

On the second day of the conference, Secretary General Shabani Mullarama participated as a panelist, invited by the Agency for Gender Equality, in the panel dedicated to the progress and challenges accompanying the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. As a member of the Women in Decision‑Making Positions Network, she discussed the challenges and achievements in the representation of women in leadership positions, the institutional measures undertaken at the Ministry of Economy level, and presented the strategic vision of the Network, centered on the professional empowerment of women and young girls for advancement toward leadership roles.

She emphasized that women need equal access to decision‑making positions in order to build a society that gradually normalizes and guarantees their participation at the highest levels of leadership.

The conference was also attended by the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, the Caretaker Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, representatives of central and local institutions, as well as local and international organizations operating in the area of gender equality. Participants reaffirmed the importance of the commitment of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to guaranteeing effective equality and strengthening all mechanisms contributing to this goal.
