Washington, 28 July 2022 -The Prime Minster of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the United States of America, Ilir Dugolli, were hosted in a meeting by the US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade of the, Marisa Lago.

Under Secretary Lago thanked Prime Minister Kurti for the immediate coordination of the Republic of Kosovo with the partner states, the USA and the EU, on imposing sanctions against Russia. She stated that US companies are interested in increasing cooperation and trade with partner countries that share the same democratic values.

During the meeting was discussed about the increase of commercial cooperation between Kosovo and the USA as well as the companies of both countries, in particular in the sectors of ICT, energy and cyber security.

Minister Rizvanolli presented the work being done in the development of the country’s Energy Sector, in particular for increasing energy independence, as well as the opportunities that this sector offers for foreign investments.

Prime Minister Kurti informed Under Secretary Lago about the work that the Government of Kosovo is doing in establishing the Commercial Court, the vetting process, as well as the confiscation of unjustifiable assets as methods of systematic fight against crime and corruption.

Under Secretary Lago expressed her support for the systematic fight against corruption, highlighting that such processes are critical for increasing the confidence of international companies in the Institutions of Kosovo, thus attracting large and serious investments.
