Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli visit social-housing buildings in Viti, where investments are being made in energy efficiency

Viti, 06.05.2025 – The Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Caretaker Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, visited two social-housing buildings in the city of Vitia, where a significant investment is being implemented to increase energy efficiency and improve the living conditions of the residents of these buildings.

The works in these buildings include insulating the roofs and external walls, replacing outdated doors and windows, installing efficient heating systems, installing the intercom system, and implementing fire-protection measures. The project is implemented by the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, with 90 % support from the Government of the Republic of Kosovo through the European Union and 10 % co-financing by the municipalities.

“We wish to have good, pleasant apartments for the residents, especially for single mothers who are also heads of households, whom we had the opportunity to meet; they raise their children here and they want to have good living conditions, and precisely for this I thank the Ministry of Economy for the investments it is making,” said Caretaker Prime Minister Kurti.

Meanwhile, Minister Rizvanolli emphasised that the investment in the two buildings in Vitia that are being renovated is part of a larger project, with financing of more than EUR 6 million, through which 25 social-housing units across Kosovo will be renovated; these investments form part of broader reforms that place energy efficiency at the centre of the energy sector.

During the day, Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli also visited the “Nijazi Rexhepi” School, where investments in energy efficiency are under way.

The EUR 600 000 investment is supported financially by the European Union at 90 %, with 10 % co-financing by the municipality.

Currently, five public facilities are under renovation:
• School “28 Nëntori”,
• School “Nijazi Rexhepi”,
• School “Mirali Sejdiu”,
• School “Dëshmorët e Lubishtës”,
• Centre for Social Work.

Whereas investments have been completed in three schools:
• School “Bafti Haxhiu”,
• School “Ndre Mjeda”, Kabash,
• School “Hysen Tërpeza”, Tërpezë.

These schools have been renovated with financing from the Government of Kosovo, the European Union and the World Bank, through the revolving scheme for municipalities.
