Prishtina, 06.12.2024 – The Ministry of Economy (ME) has compensated, for the first time, the Post of Kosovo with the amount of 1.1 million euros (1,168,932 €) for the Universal Postal Service (UPS) for the year 2023.

This service benefits the citizens of the country as the Post of Kosovo provides the same basic, affordable price service for all citizens, regardless of whether they send a letter from Prishtina to Fushe Kosova, or from Leposaviq to Dragash.

Accordingly, Law No. 06/L-038, Article 10, foresees compensation to cover the higher costs of service in more remote areas, however, until now, the Post of Kosovo had never received the compensation it deserved, due to the absence of sub-legal acts from the competent institutions and a lack of human capacity within the enterprise itself.

In this regard, the Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli emphasized that this injustice is being addressed for the first time today, and the UPS payment by the Government of Kosovo will help the Post of Kosovo improve its operations and undertake the necessary investments that have been lacking for decades.
