Prishtina, 15.05.2024 – Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy (ME), Leonita Shabani – Mullarama, and the representative of the Innovation and Training Park in Prizren (ITP), Muhamed Rexhepi, have signed the Agreement for the construction and establishment of the Center of Digital Excellence (CDE).

This center will be an integral part of the Innovation and Training Park in Prizren, functioning as an idea hub where mentoring services will be made available and valuable and practical ideas will actively be transformed into businesses.

The center will serve as a central ecosystem for the Republic of Kosovo, as well as the region, supporting new and creative ideas. Additionally, it will be connected with universities, colleges, vocational schools, technology parks, research and development institutes, and other centers, and with the sector of private and public businesses.

Considering the mandate of the Ministry of Economy to create a conducive environment for the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Innovation in ICT, the CDE will initially focus on studies, research, and development based on the latest ICT trends such as:

• 5G and 6G, the next generation of mobile technologies expected to revolutionize many industrial and developmental aspects;
• IoT (Internet of Things), a connected system of computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, enabling data transfer through networks without the need for human-to-human or human-to-computer interactions;
• 3D printing;
• Blockchain technologies and their utilization in various fields.

Moreover, from the outset, the CDE will also connect the ICT sector with the Energy sector in terms of ICT utilization to advance various processes of energy generation, transmission, and utilization based on the latest technologies.
