Maximum engagement to ensure water supply for citizens of the affected areas

Prishtina, 01.12.2024 — Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, and Deputy Minister, Getoar Mjeku, visited yesterday the emergency water supply areas following the terrorist attack on the “Ibër-Lepenc” canal.

Rizvanolli and Mjeku visited several affected areas and emergency water supply points, closely monitoring the measures being undertaken to repair damages and ensure water supply for citizens.

Minister Rizvanolli stated: “We are fully committed to ensuring water supply for citizens by using water trucks and tankers, as well as by closely coordinating with technical teams and directors to repair infrastructure and enhance supply capacities”.

In Mitrovica (North: Bosniak neighborhood, Mitrovica Hospital – Dialysis Center), Zveçan, Drenas, Fushe Kosova, and Skenderaj, tankers and water trucks have been stationed to supply citizens with water.

Minister Rizvanolli was accompanied by the team of the Regional Water Supply Company “Mitrovica,” including the Chairwoman of the Board, Kumrije Kelmendi, the Technical Director, Bajram Peci, and other officials and engineers. They discussed the measures being taken to improve water supply and stabilize the situation.

Minister Rizvanolli and Deputy Minister Mjeku also visited the site of the attack in Varaga village, Zubin Potok, where they met with the repair teams engaged to repair the damages.

The teams explained the current situation and developments, noting that after swift emergency interventions, two options have been identified for the long-term remediation of the damage. With the Chief Executive Officer of the “Ibër-Lepenc” Enterprise, Faruk Mujka, the Director responsible for the canal, Ernest Kërçeli, and the engaged engineers, discussions were also held regarding management and increasing water supply capacities.
