Government organises informative meeting between businesses entering the open market and licensed suppliers
Prishtina, 29 May 2025 – At the request of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the National Council for Economy and Investments held its next meeting with the businesses that are expected to enter the open electricity market, as well as the licensed suppliers of electricity in the Republic of Kosovo. The meeting was attended by the Caretaker Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, the Chair of the Board of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), Ymer Fejzullahu, and representatives of the chambers of commerce.
Five companies holding a licence for electricity supply took part in the discussion and declared that they are active and ready to submit offers for electricity supply.
According to the information provided today during the meeting, some of the suppliers have already submitted offers to individual businesses or concluded contracts with groups of businesses organised together. One of them has already signed contracts with businesses or with groups of businesses organised together.
The companies mainly plan to offer variable commercial contracts, based on market costs plus a supplier margin for the service provided, while 3 of them are also prepared to offer fixed-price contracts. Some of the suppliers stated that if businesses organise in groups to negotiate and sign contracts with them, they may benefit from lower prices. They also noted that the exchanges from which they get the supply differ among them and include ALPEX, HUPX, etc.
On this occasion, the Caretaker Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, called on all businesses that are part of the second phase of market liberalisation to organise as soon as possible in order to secure the most favourable offers. She also urged ERO to facilitate, as much as possible, the timely provision of the necessary information to businesses and suppliers.
