Energy Efficiency Measures inaugurated at “Mati Logoreci” and “Skënder Kastrati” Schools
Prishtina, 14.03.2024 – Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, participated in the inauguration of energy efficiency measures at two schools, Lower Secondary School “Mati Logoreci” in Prizren, and Lower Secondary School “Skënder Kastrati” in the village of Gexhe, Rahovec.
The investments in schools were made within the framework of projects by the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund (KEEF), with financial support of the European Union, World Bank, and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
During the inaugural ceremonies, Deputy Minister Mjeku spoke about the importance of these investments in improving the learning conditions in schools for students and teachers. He emphasized that students will now have warmer winters and cooler summers, while also saving on electricity bills.
He also stressed that energy efficiency is a priority for the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, aiding in energy transition, preserving our resources, and better serving the citizens.
The investment value at “Mati Logoreci” School is 226,000 euros, where external insulation, door and window replacements, roof renovation, heating equipment upgrades, and efficient LED lighting replacements were carried out.
Meanwhile, at “Skënder Kastrati” School, 126,000 euros were invested, focusing on external insulation and door and window replacements.
Over the past two years, KEEF has implemented around 90 projects in various public facilities, totaling to approximately 12 million euros of investments, supported by the European Union, World Bank, and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
Present at the inauguration of the energy efficiency measures were Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, Executive Director of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, Driton Hetemi, representative of the European Commission, Anna Carin Platon, representative of the World Bank, Lindita Lepaja, and representatives from municipalities.
