Energy efficiency investment project for social housing signed also in the Municipality of Prizren
Prishtina, 09.06.2025 – The Caretaker Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, took part in the signing ceremony of the agreement between the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund (KEEF) and the Municipality of Prizren for the project “Implementation of Energy Efficiency Measures for Multi-Apartment Social Buildings”.
Under the project implemented by the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, an investment of 478,426€ will be made, with 90 % support from the Government of the Republic of Kosovo through a European Union grant and a 10 % contribution from the municipality.
Caretaker Minister Rizvanolli emphasised that, when designing the EU emergency energy package, one of the challenges was to balance the two objectives of the energy system on the one hand while, on the other, ensuring that the most vulnerable strata are reached.
“Bearing in mind the challenges of access for this category, we considered that targeting social housing is a better approach, as it involves a large number of families,” Rizvanolli said, expressing confidence that these families will experience a warmer winter.
A total of 250 residents will benefit from the investments in the three multi-apartment social buildings. Works will include insulation of the external walls, replacement of windows and entrance doors, roof thermal insulation, installation of an air-conditioning heating system, renovation of entrances, installation of intercoms, and fire-protection measures/smoke detectors.
The project in Prizren is part of a nationwide programme under which works have already commenced in 12 other municipalities, covering the renovation of 28 social buildings, with a total value of over 6 million euros.
Alongside Caretaker Minister Rizvanolli, the signing ceremony was attended by the representative of the EU Office in Kosovo, Alessandro Bianciardi, the Managing Director of KEEF, Driton Hetemi, and the Mayor of the Municipality of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj.
