Deputy Minister Mjeku participated in the informal meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community

Banja Luka, 03 July 2024 – The Energy Community held an informal meeting of the Ministerial Council today in Bosnia and Herzegovina, attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Kosovo, Getoar Mjeku.

The meeting focused on the integration of the electricity market, and climate and environmental obligations.

Deputy Minister Mjeku informed the Ministerial Council about the amendments to the energy sector laws in the Republic of Kosovo, the integration of the Kosovo-Albania energy market, and further integration efforts with Greece and North Macedonia.

He also discussed the approval of the climate change law, necessary studies for carbon pricing, and the commitment to the environment, citizens’ well-being, and economic development.

The Ministerial Council is the institution that represents the governments of the Parties to the Energy Community Treaty and is the highest decision-making body of the Energy Community.

Founded in 2006, the Energy Community links the European Union with neighboring countries, including the six Western Balkan states, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
