Deputy Minister Mjeku at “DigiDay Prishtina 2025”: We have almost 100 percent coverage with broadband internet

04.04.2025, Prishtina – The Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, and the Director of the ICT Department at the Ministry of Economy, Agim Kukaj, participated in “DigiDay Prishtina 2025,” where the topic “Innovative Solutions for Public Administration in Austria–Kosovo” was discussed.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Mjeku mentioned investments in enhancing general digital infrastructure.

“The Ministry of Economy has invested in enhancing overall digital infrastructure, including high-speed internet and mobile networks across the country. Our commitment to the development of ICT infrastructure is evident in national strategies and partnerships with international organizations aiming to enhance digital connectivity. Kosovo has a 99.8% broadband penetration rate, ranking among the champions in this regard”, he stated.

The Deputy Minister noted that information and communication technology is a vital segment thanks to young people who are leading successful companies and creating jobs, adding that 70% of ICT companies in Kosovo export services.

Meanwhile, the Director of the ICT Department at the Ministry of Economy, Agim Kukaj, said that only during 2024, Kosovo exported IT services amounting to 347.4 million euros, which represents a 21% increase compared to 2023.

He further noted that 96.6% of the population in Kosovo uses the internet. Director Kukaj stated that the goal is that by 2030, Kosovo become a country with an advanced digital economy, where citizens use secure digital tools and electronic services.

This event was organized by Advantage Austria under the theme “Innovative Solutions for Public Administration in Austria and Kosovo.” The Austrian Ambassador to Kosovo, Georg Schnetzer, also took part in the opening of the event.
