Deputy Minister Getoar Mjeku Represents Kosovo at the Digital Summit in Sarajevo
Sarajevo, 05.10.2023 – Deputy Minister of Economy, Getoar Mjeku, represented the Republic of Kosovo at the Sixth Western Balkans Digital Summit in Sarajevo.
The Summit was hosted by the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with representatives from the governments and economies of the Western Balkans and the European Commission in attendance.
Deputy Minister Mjeku participated in the Ministerial Panel under the theme “Transformative Role of Digitalization – Joint Vision and Ambition of the Western Balkans Region”.
Mjeku highlighted Kosovo’s successes in the digital field and its vision to become a modern digital country with an advanced digital economy, an efficient public administration ensuring intelligent use of territory and infrastructure, where citizens will use high-quality digital tools and electronic services.
Deputy Minister Mjeku announced that according to the “2023 Future of IT Report” published by Tech Emerging Europe Advocates, Kosovo ranks first in the Western Balkans in the IT competitiveness index.
Furthermore, Mjeku emphasized that, in furthering digital infrastructure development, the Ministry of Economy has initiated support for projects aimed at preparing for the deployment of the 5G network.
During the Summit, the Director of the Department of Communication Technology of the Ministry of Economy, Agim Kukaj, and the Advisor to Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Lulëzon Jagxhiu, also participated in the panel.
