At the meeting of the EU Energy Ministers, Rizvanolli asks that Kosovo benefit directly from the measures the EU is taking to address the energy crisis

Prague, 12.10.2022 – The Czech Presidency has arranged an informal meeting of the EU Energy Ministers, wherein the measures to deal with the European energy crisis were discussed, including: electricity demand reduction, revenue cap for electricity generators, and solidarity levy for fossil fuel sector.

During the meeting, the Minister of Economy of Kosovo, Artane Rizvanolli, asked from the European Union that Kosovo and the Western Balkans countries be included in the measures taken and those to be taken by the EU, in order to benefit from such measures.

The Minister also requested establishing mechanisms that guarantee the distribution of revenue from the revenue cap for electricity generators also to the states that are not part of the EU, but which are dependent on the import of electricity, such as Kosovo.

The Minister has also requested preparing a financial package by the EU to expand and increase the impact of the measures that the Republic of Kosovo is undertaking to face the energy crisis, by way of increasing efficiency, reducing consumption, and protecting vulnerable consumers.
