As of today, Citizens can apply for subsidies for efficient household appliances and solar systems for heating sanitary water.
Prishtina, 18.08.2023 – The call for supporting household consumers in investing in efficient household appliances and supporting household consumers in investing in renewable energy systems – solar system for heating sanitary water has been launched.
The energy efficiency measures were presented today by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, and Alessandro Bianciardi from the EU Office in Kosovo.
Speaking on the announcement of energy efficiency measures, Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that we are launching the third consecutive measure, subsidizing household appliances for families with a focus on supporting citizens under social assistance and single parents.
Prime Minister Kurti added that energy efficiency does not only triggers reduced financial costs for families and our economy, but it also contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and decreasing the import of electricity, thus providing a healthier environment for everyone and saving the state budget, which belongs to everyone.
“We share this goal with our friends and partners in the European Union, who allocated €75 million to the Republic of Kosovo to address the European energy crisis consequences. This package holds the highest value per capita in the region,” Prime Minister Kurti said.
Minister Artane Rizvanolli stated that this year the Ministry of Economy will implement the efficiency program, which amounts to €15 million and includes €10 million for efficient household heating appliances, efficient household appliances, solar systems for heating sanitary water, and photovoltaic solar systems, aiming to target at least 20,000 citizens.
“Today, we are launching the first two calls for household appliances, heaters, cookers, refrigerators, and solar systems for water heating, and we will continue with other calls in the coming weeks. Replacing inefficient appliances with efficient ones brings many benefits to citizens, from reducing electricity costs, which is directly translated into lower bills, to reduced maintenance costs and positive environmental impacts,” she said.
Furthermore, Minister Rizvanolli announced that this year, for the first time in Kosovo, around €30 million will be invested in the residential sector, marking historically the largest investment ever made in this sector. Rizvanolli also added that last week they launched the call for home insulation, changing doors and windows, and roof and floor insulation, a measure implemented by the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund and financially supported by the European Union.
Alessandro Bianciardi from the EU Office in Kosovo emphasized that from the support the EU has provided to Kosovo in the amount of €75 million, over 200,000 households have benefited from the subsidy of electricity bills.
Bianciardi highlighted that the European Union remains committed to supporting Kosovo on its path to clean energy, decarbonisation, and better renewable energy security, which are essential for resilient development.
On the other hand, application to benefit from measures announced today will be made online through the e-Kosova platform.
