70 million € allocated for two projects: the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Podujeva and the Transmission Network Upgrade VII
Prishtina, 03.03.2025 – The XIV meeting of the Strategic Planning Commission within the Office of the Prime Minister was held, where a decision was made to advance the Wastewater Treatment Plant Project in Podujeva and the Transmission Network Upgrade VII Project.
Present were Prime Minister Albin Kurti, First Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue, Besnik Bislimi, Minister Artane Rizvanolli, Deputy Ministers Vigan Qorrolli, Dafina Gexha-Bunjaku, and Avni Zogiani, as well as members of government cabinets and offices within the Office of the Prime Minister and relevant ministries.
Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli stated that the Wastewater Treatment Plant Project in Podujeva is planned to serve approximately 50,000 citizens.
“The Wastewater Treatment Plant in Podujeva is anticipated to serve around 50,000 citizens of the municipality of Podujeva and its surrounding areas, contributing to pollution reduction, construction of flood protection systems, and the development of a pilot plant for treating wastewater from villages”, she said.
This project will be financed through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), and will be implemented by the Regional Water Company “Prishtina” with support from EBRD. The project cost is over 34 million euros.
Minister Rizvanolli also presented the Transmission Network Upgrade VII Project, which will enhance the reliability of electricity supply, especially during high-demand months.
The total cost of this project is over 38 million euros.
