Zubin Potok, 5 August 2026 – Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Albin Kurti, accompanied by Caretaker Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli, Deputy Ministers of Economy Getoar Mjeku and Triera Kasumi-Berisha, and Chief Executive Officer of the Publicly-Owned Enterprise “Ibër-Lepenc”,  Faruk Mujka, visited the Ujman Lake dam and the Ujman hydroelectric power plant in the Municipality of Zubin Potok.

Emphasizing the importance of Ujman Lake, the Prime Minister stated that it supplies water to households and industry, particularly the Kosovo A and Kosovo B thermal power plants, which subsequently generate electricity for the country.

“This is an extraordinary asset for the Republic of Kosovo and all its citizens without distinction, including our industry. We will therefore do everything within our knowledge and capacities to support the workers and managers in serving the public interest. In these difficult times of climate change, when droughts are becoming increasingly frequent and unpredictable, the value of Ujman naturally continues to increase”, Prime Minister Kurti said.

During the visit to the hydroelectric power plant, Prime Minister Kurti stated that although the importance of Ibër-Lepenc lies in supplying water to industry, agriculture, and household water-supply systems, the hydroelectric power plant is vital to the enterprise’s financial sustainability.

He emphasized that the enterprise has consistently operated at a profit since 2022.

“In 2025, the enterprise generated a turnover of €12.8 million, while its net profit after deducting depreciation amounted to €1.76 million. It should be emphasized that the enterprise has consistently operated at a profit since 2022—for the first time since the last war,” he said. He added that during the four-year period from 2022 to 2025, the enterprise recorded a profit of approximately €4.3 million, whereas during the preceding four-year period, from 2018 to 2021, it incurred losses of €13.8 million. “Thus, from losses of €13.8 million during the four years preceding our administration, the enterprise moved to a profit of €4.3 million during our four years in office.”
