Minister Rizvanolli held a meeting with Director of the Hellenic Wind Energy Association
Prishtina, 19 April 2024 – Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, held a virtual meeting with the Director of the Hellenic Wind Energy Association in Greece (HWEA), Panagiotis Papastamatiou, to present the investment opportunities outlined in Kosovo’s Renewable Energy Sources Investment Package, especially in the first wind auction.
Minister Rizvanolli presented the work of the Republic of Kosovo Government in building new clean electricity capacities and attracting foreign investments. At the same time, she presented investment projects such as storage capacities, the joint market with Albania, agreements for market coupling with North Macedonia and Greece, as well as investments in the transmission grid that facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources into the network and make Kosovo an even more attractive destination for foreign energy investments.
The Director of the Hellenic Wind Energy Association in Greece, Papastamatiou, expressed interest in the opportunities Kosovo offers, especially those for investments in wind energy for Greek companies, starting with the first 150-megawatt auction. Kosovo’s Renewable Energy Sources Investment Package envisages the construction of 950 megawatts of renewable capacities, valued at around 1.2 billion euros.
The first project is the first solar auction, which was successfully concluded last month with a final price offered at 48.88 euros per megawatt-hour. The next project is the first wind auction, expected to be launched in the second half of this year, supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
