Prishtina, 12.03.2024 – The Minister of Economy (ME), Artane Rizvanolli, together with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the CEO of Telecom, Burbuqe Hana and the Chairperson of the Trade Union of Telecom, Lamih Balaj, visited today the works site of Telecom of Kosovo in Çaber village of Zubin Potok, on the occasion of the completion of the works for the replacement of the base transmission station.

With this investment, Telecom of Kosovo is transitioning from the current “Alcatel” technology to the most modern technology of the time in partnership with the Swedish giant “Ericsson”. The works have been completed in the Ferizaj – Gjilan regions and are continuing in the village Çaber as part of the phase through which the Base Transmission Stations (BTS) installed in 2000 are being replaced with new ones.

This high-intensity initiative began in 2021, when Telecom of Kosovo started fundamental investments in the field of mobile telephony.

Rizvanolli said that Telecom of Kosovo is an example of how a publicly-owned enterprise is not only improving its performance but also making investments to improve the quality and number of services for all citizens in every corner of the country, which unfortunately has not happened until now.

She congratulated the Telecom staff for the work they are doing under difficult conditions due to the inherited struggles and also congratulated them for the results achieved so far, convinced that even future plans for the expansion of both the network and the provision of internet and cable services will be expanded.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kurti said that Telecom is a publicly owned enterprise of national security importance, led by the coverage and quality of public services it provides.

He expressed satisfaction that from five such bases that were base stations in the north of Kosovo, now there are twenty, being modernized, and all the work is being done by Telecom workers, without the need for them to be transferred to different private economic operators as has been done in the past.
