Inauguration of Energy Efficiency Investments at Primary and Lower-Secondary School “Asdreni” in Peja
Prishtina, 16.02.2024 – The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, today attended the inauguration of efficient measures at the Primary and Lower-Secondary School “Asdreni” in Peja, implemented as part of projects funded by the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund (KEEF).
Minister Rizvanolli expressed her satisfaction with the quality and conditions created for 1,138 students and teachers, after facing various challenges, often coping with the cold. Thanks to this investment, from now on the comfort will increase in this school and they will have better conditions.
Rizvanolli emphasized that increasing efficiency, both in the public and private sectors, is one of the Government’s main goals, as it is the fastest and best way to reduce energy consumption.
With the financial support of the European Commission, the World Bank, and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund at Primary and Lower-Secondary School “Asdreni” in Peja has made an investment of around 190 thousand euros, resulting in approximately 77% energy savings for the school.
The investment in this school includes:
External thermal insulation;
Replacement of old windows and doors with new, more efficient ones;
Construction of a new roof and insulation;
Installation of thermal energy meters – two boilers, each with a capacity of 300 kilowatt-hours;
Installation of thermodynamic valves on each radiator; and
Replacement of old lights with new LED ones.
Since the opening of this school in 1962, this is the first such large-scale investment to date.
In addition to investments in the renovation of “Asdreni” School in Peja through the Fund, the Government of Kosovo has also renovated the Career Center “Rifat Gjota” with over 56 thousand euros. The Fund is also designing projects for investments in the schools “Xhemajl Kada”, “Rilindja”, “Ali Hadri”, and “Skenderbeu”, as well as the “Karagaqi” Sports Hall, with investments totaling around 900 thousand euros.
Acknowledgments and thanks to the KEEF for their excellent work in implementing these projects, as a continuation of investments in 22 municipalities, the European Union Office in Kosovo, and the World Bank in Kosovo for their support!
